2005 Sukhumvit 9-Ball League Tournament Bash

THE EVENT

Honestly, the Bash got off to a shaky start. People were told to arrive by 12:30. Yours truly didn't get there until 1:30pm (hey it rained!).

By the time the tournament started at 2pm (by Thailand time, everything was working like clockwork!) things were beginning to rock.

At it's height, I think there were about 100 people in the joint:

By the time the tournament finished, it was about 9pm. That's a LONG day. I think a strong testament to the Bash was that there were still 40 people or so in the bar to watch the final!

A good time was had by all!

THE WOOKEN SPOON AWARD

The biggest cheers I believe were held for Jayke of Flaming Moe's!!!!! The winner of the Wooden Spoon Award. Or as the Thais (and the trophy says) Wooken!!! The Wooden Spoon is awarded to the person with the distinction of holding up all the other names in the League Tables by being last!

TOURNAMENT BASH AWARDS

First place in the one day tournament is a gentleman who played with grim determination until the final ball was sunk and than was all smiles!

Second Place was one by one of the most amiable fellows one could ever hope to meet! I personally had the pleasure to lose to him and I couldn't have lost to a more personable fellow and stick master (that's cue stick!)

Third place went to yours truly. More luck than skill as fouls on the eight ball and nine ball let me run out the deciding game in two matches.

Fourth place goes to a Thai with a mean skill with a cue. Looking at everyone playing I'd have my money on this guy. He's good for a reason but luck just wasn't shining on him today. But there's always tomorrow!
