The bars owners are serious about Pool, a fact made obvious by the very high standard of equipment and number of tables. This is balanced out very well by a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which hits you as soon as a stunning hostess opens the door!
Down to business for you aficionados out there, The Players boast seven tables,
(Four nine foot 9 ball tables in total) six Sovereigns’ and one Brunswick Pro 9 Ball that was used in the Asian 9 Ball Tournament this year!
Frames are played on a challenge basis at 20B/game; loser pays, or by the hour at 240B/hour.
This venue boasts personal lessons from co-owner and seasoned professional Steve Ray, charged at 500B/30 mins with discounts available for group bookings.
The Players opened too late to compete in the current Sukhumvit 9 ball league, but will appear next time.
Other facilities include; big screen sports coverage, personal cue lockers that are hired out by the year, free Chess and Backgammon.
The standard of music is high, with sensible volume levels to encourage concentration and banter! Ample seating is provided in this well light hall; but the emphasis is firmly fixed on the game of many pockets – if you require a comfier seat you need to work on your game!
The bar is very well stocked with liquid refreshments including this writer’s favourite single malt…
If you’re flying solo some of the hostesses play at a high level, and may well agree to a return trip with you…
Otherwise don’t be shy; despite being newly opened this establishment has a loyal following and very friendly clientele who will definitely give you a good game! Tucked away in the corner pocket of Asok, The Players attracts a mixed Ex-pat/Thai crowd who are highly appreciative of this fine venue and its 2:00pm til 01:00 am opening hours!
Considering how new this establishment is, with a little polishing this rough diamond could prove flawless.
