The Irish X-Change on Soi Convent in Patpong is a place I’ve been to on occasion over the years. It’s an upscale pub from the old country with prices to match. Beautiful interior and decorations. Dark wood decore, long and inviting bar, so on and so forth.
Unbeknownst to me it has a pool table. The table is on the top floor all the way to the right. First, I never knew there was a second floor. Secondly, the acoustics are pretty good because I never heard the balls break when I was downstairs.
I stopped by pretty late on a slow weekday evening, yet the table was in constant use. Interestingly enough, it was mostly Thai folks.
It’s a very nice atmosphere but the players I saw ranged from mediocre to okay. Only one person had talent.
If you’re looking for a place to wind down a quiet evening looking to knock a few balls around this might a good option. The table is in a small area, but there’s only 2 small points where you may not have enough room for the cue. If you’re looking for a real pool hall, you’d still head across the ways to the Red Parrot.
Table: It’s a beautiful heavy ornate tassled professional sized table, but it does show signs of years of use.
Balls: Used
Cues: Very limited selection.
Staff: Great
Flooring: Wood

Intangibles: Comfortable upscale place
Costs: Game 30 baht
Soda: 70 baht
Heinekin: 100 baht a bottle, or 140 baht for ½ liter draft
