Pool is a very popular game in Bangkok, with thousands of pool tables now catering for tourists, expat residents and local Thai players alike. Inevitably the range of venues is vast, from single table bars to a few very large pool halls. Equally, the standard of the tables and equipment on offer is just as varied. Additionally some pool halls are strictly for amateur amusement, while some are full of obliging ladies competing for business with the tables. A few halls are there for those who simply want to play pool, preferably at the highest standard.
On this site we have a comprehensive list of pool venues that normally have more than one table, all of which are kept to a reasonable standard at least. We have listed them by area so you can search for a venue to suit yourself. In addition, we have rated halls that are, in our opinion, of a higher standard and with suitably skilled, regular players.
This site is in English and as such it is targeted at those expats who live in Bangkok , and overseas visitors. Of course many venues have a customer base of both Thai and farangs.
We have produced some simple symbols to help identify the type of place you are after .
Please use the contact form to let us know of any pool hall that you think is worth a mention. In addition each pool hall entry has a blog enabling you to post your comments. But please be constructive and polite or your words will be edited, or even removed!
The newsletter option is for a monthly emailing which will provide you with up-to-date information on what's on and where, and hopefully keep you abreast of all the latest tournaments in town.
Visitors should be aware that gambling in Thailand is strictly illegal. However should you be tempted into a game “for a few bob,” be very wary of over-friendly “lurkers.” Not all people will play with the spirit intended and Thais in particular will expect winnings to be paid, whatever controversial ‘infringements' may have occurred. Disputes are more likely to settled with fists and feet, rather than soothing words.
